Group shot

Here is the director and Mrs. Li who helped us 4 years ago in arranging our friend Lisa to visit Reagan. The shot is along the famous river which I have written down somewhere - it is the name that the word China came from. This is also where most of the ceramic china was shipped from to various places.

Reagan and the Director

Finally Reagan warmed up to the director and then had him holding him lots which I knew the director really was thrilled about. He is the head of the orphanage and is the one who brought Reagan to our hotel room on Feb 4, 2004.

Daddy's girl

Here Taylor and Scott are having a great moment!

waiting at the hotel

Here we are at the hotel waiting to go to dinner. Another photo moment LOL

Sample of the many ceramics

Jingdezhen is where ceramics were born and everywhere you go you see examples. There are these ceramic pillars all over the place. When we got Reagan they were celebrating in 2004 the 1000 year anniversary of the first kiln. But we have learned it is actually older than that - but people come from all over the world to study here and the dutch learned their dalft )sp?) from the Chinese - thus they both use the famous blue patterns.

3 very cute kids

Hard to believe we now have three kids! There was a tiny park behind the hotel and got this nice shot of them there.

Our guide and driver

This is Sissi our guide and i think Mr. Tan our driver. They were great and if anyone is needed to do a Heritage tour in Jingxi province and one other province I need to remember - she is your person. Very detailed and well knowledged. The guides are suffering since adoptions are down and there are less and less nsn babies available - so she has started her own side business and will do very well.

Dinner Sat night with orphanage staff

Here we are having dinner at the private room with the orphanage staff. The place is the park and HQ of the famous tea company in Jingdezhen. It was a beautiful park and were thrilled to learn the history and walk around the park, which is alongside the river.

Saturday evening

Hey there had a great day! The staff meet us at 5 at the hotel and it was great to see them. Nobody had changed and they sure were excited to see Reagan. He got a bit shy at first and took some time to get comfortable with them.

We drove off to an area our guide was not familiar with and we were thrilled to have this experience and learn lots about the culture, history of this area. We drove to a park that is at the Headquarters of the famous Green Tea company in Jingdezhen - which is along their famous river, which was used to ship pottery throughout china. Also the name I forget and need to have our guide write down...of the river is famous and formed the name of China? and also of the city.

The park was just beautiful, and we took many photo's to share later. They had a private room set aside for us and we met with most of the senior staff and had a wonderful dinner, the food was great. Reagan warmed up and let the Director hold him. The Director and Asst Director are the two who brought Reagan to our hotel room that cold day Feb 4th, 2004. We were able to talk and ask questions. I also inquired about a couple of kid that are there now - who I should see tomorrow.

They were thrilled to hear that Reagan liked Chicken feet, so they ordered a special dish for him of duck feet - but they thought it was not spicey and they were and poor Reagan could not eat them. The evening was just a wonderful time together and there were many toasts made!

They did say that Reagan's foster mother many times came to the orphanage saying she did not know what to do with Reagan since he was such a busy baby boy!! That is our boy! Tomorrow we spent the morning with them and will ask her many questions about his life.

We found out her son is now 17 and just passed his exams to get into one of the top Universities in Finance, so I know she must be very proud.

Later on we returned back to our hotel and talked with our guide Sissi for many hours about culture, history and thoughts about life in China and their future and politics.... it was very insightful for both and Sissi, also gave us copies of songs and history. She is a wonderful guide. I know we will be staying in touch.
Good night from Jingdezhen ( pronounced like Jing Da Gung)

Saturday the 1st in Jingxi Province

Well today has finally come. We were up at 5 AM and got ourselves and the kids up to head to the airport. It was hard and Taylor had the hardest time with it, but we made it and our guide David had breakfast ordered and we were on our way to the Airport.

Our flight on China Southern was at 8:05 AM and we had an e-ticket set up - so was really easy, I had Taylor in the carrier which made things pretty easy. The new airport is so much nicer. We were in it briefly two years ago, but in another area, so was nice to see this part.

Did not have to wait long so got the kids fed and soon we were boarding for Taylor's first trip on a plane. Reagan was pretty excited and it is sinking in that this trip is about him.

Taylor did ok, except for the fact as they were preparing to leave the terminal Taylor decided she needed to use the bathroom, so had a moment of panic with the steward trying to explain to Taylor to wait and of course she went into one of her tempers, but finally got her to look out the window and she thought that was interesting. We got fed right away. Two heated rolls, one with some paste? in it and the othere I think with Tuna? Taylor liked them. She struggled with the concept of just sitting in the seat - she would prefer to run.

The flight was 1 hr and 15 min long and then we got to Nanchang. We decided it would be best to be last. Then we walked straight out and Sissi our guide was waiting for us. Of course made a bathroom break - Chinese squaters the choice and was a bit challenging with a dress and and a squirmy kid you have to balance over the thing.
We had about a three hour drive ahead of us.

Sissi has been great... she even had water for us and books for the kids.I had her order me some chops for each of the kids and she did a wonderful job and then she got two scroll paintings for the girls since Reagan had one already. The same artist did it and they are beautiful.
We slept part of the way and got there in good time. We headed to a local restaurant and the whole restaurant stopped and stared at us all. We finally sat down and had some really good food. The kids did not enjoy it as much - the food in this reagion is spicy! Scott and I of course enjoyed it. I loved the eggplant dish.

We have now headed back to the hotel ... the Kai Menzi Grand Hotel which is an older 4 star, have tried to get the kids to settle a bit and get some rest. We meet Sissi at 5 PM to go for dinner with the orphanage staff. We are really looking forward to this. Should be an interesting time. Tomorrow we will go to the orphanage and tour the place and meet Reagan's foster mother.

Reagan is starting to talk more about it and is really taking this all in.
Well talk to you later.... Lavonne
