Our Welcome Sign in HeYuan HS

It was a nice surprise to see the welcome sign as we came in. This was my third time to this school in the past 14 years. It has not changed much from 3-1/2 years ago, but when I first came, it was quite the experience. The rooms were very basic with just light bulbs hanging from the ceilings, the fence around the school was cement with broken glass stuck to the top. No central heating... They have come a long way. Actually right after our visit the kids will be having exams from the 22-24 and on the 25th for one week Lisa will be going with other teachers for her first trip out of the country to Singapore, Hong Kong and Malysia for one week. It is paid for by the school since their students have done so well in testing. I know they have asked Lisa in the past to consider being the school principal. She really loves what she does and has a true passion for her students. Teachers in the US should know she works 6-7 days a wk, sometimes in the night and gets about 2-3 wks off and gets paid about $1450/year and she is considered upper middle class. The students don't get the summers off - this is usually when exams are held.
